Description
New version 0.1.6.
This is primarily a tool for modders and advanced players
This is a VERY early mod & messy code so expect some bugs (not critical though)
An in-game UI mod to browse, edit and save your edits into an external mod it reads the config folder inside your game and your installed mods reading your xml files (items, blocks, recipes, etc.) and shows them in a clean ui filterting and grouping the properties.
You can:
- browse game data and inspect detailed properties for each item
- edit your values directly in game and see the effect on balance
- export your changes out for use creating “Z_ItemTweaks” folder inside your mods folder
THIS MOD IS NOT EDITING YOUR CONFIG FILES BY ANY MEANS & YOUR EDITED VALUES ARE NOT SAVED UNLESS YOU EXPORT THEM
Data Categories
Inside each tab you get sub-tabs for all major game systems like items, blocks and recipes…etc
each tab scans the matching XML file(s) and shows a list on the left and a detailed inspector on the right
Controls
F9 – Open / close the In-Game Data Browser
Installation
- download this mod and extract it
- place the folder into your 7 Days To Die\Mods directory
- launch the game and press F9 in-game to open the browser you can press T for chat so you could control the ui window
To-do &QoL list
mods/new mods: 3 panel layout (mods list > xml files > entries)done for now just need more tweaking- admin tab to spawn/add in game with other admin commands for testing
settings to change keybind (F9), config directory and other UI elements- read other XML files inside the folder
- revert mods edits back to vanilla
- Spawn/add button to the selected item/npc
directory picker for data folder.config options like panel sizes, keybinds,Ui scale, change exported mod name…etc- language picker
- xml live reloader so no restart needed
- comparison view: vanilla vs modded values
edit modinfo directly from setting- much more futures to come…
Known Issues
- if your game crashes you can always revert/remove your exported mod
deleting a value hides the box so ALWAYS keep a value inside (gonna fix it ASAP)progression tab is not fully finished it doesn’t show everything from the xml filetraders names only shows id for now- localization is not working everywhere
- some values might be missing
after last patch some boxes are small like “tags” should be fixed next patchproprties boxes in “Installed mods” can’t read values correctly
you might find more issues/bugs submit your bug here
source code will be shared once the mod is finished and cleaned
am not good in writing detailed description
