Shus Learn By Doing and Spawning Modlets

Shus Learn By Doing and Spawning Modlets

Description

New version 2.1.

The Learn By Doing system is a hybrid system that works WITH the book system already in game. Reading the can of sham you spawn with enables the LBD portion of the modlet. The system is based on A16.4. I couldnt replicate the exact system but the core parts are there.

  • EXP on hit, bonus exp for headshots.
  • Many of the categories directly transferred over.
  • All weapons have LBD exp.
  • Workstations is still by book as, the trigger “onSelfItemCrafted” isnt readable and thus, I cannot create an entry for this outside of using this variable that doesnt work. HOWEVER, it IS in the code so if the devs ever hook up the variable to the modding system, it will just randomly work.
  • LBD works for Vehicles.
  • LBD works for armor but is a simple ‘over time’ buff when in combat.
  • LBD works for Looting.
  • LBD works for Explosives
  • LBD works for Traps/Electronics.

Spawning

Most zombies are allowed in all biomes.
Increased spawn numbers by ~66%
Game still gated by vanilla Gamestage.
Gamestage accelerated ~35%
Max spawned zombies accelerated.
More ferals and zombie animals, even on day 1.
Radiated, Charged and Infernal Template zombies sooner.
All zombies have a stacking buff that triggers when other zombies are around.
This buff increases all zombie stats from move speed, armor, attack speed and damage to player.
(Boss zombies with fully stacked buff can deal over 100 damage on day 30 before resistances.)

These modlets are departmentalized. You can use one without the other.

These modlets were made for a duo who have 3,000 and 2,000 or more hours in vanilla.
It is NOT recomended for new players or casual folk to use the spawning modlet.
It is intentionally designed in a way where there is ALWAYS a chance to perish; even with a cumulative 5,000 hours between two people.Sometimes, youll just not be able to stay alive. GG.

-= Survival Revival // Storms Brewing information=-

Based on the news released by TFP, 7d2d V2.5 and 3.0 are likely going to break the modlet.
As soon as the Beta releases for V2.5 ill begin work to get it stable on the new patch and push an update while I rebalance the modlet for the new mechanics.
This means I will be taking a break from development untill 7d2d V2.5 Beta release.

Feature Teasers:
-See if storms can use my custom spawning templates, game acceleration and zombie buff.
-Will research an LBD system to see if a survival mechanic with the new variables is possible.
-Will research viability for basic storms to spawn more dangerous zombies.
-Optimization Improvements.

Hello ShuFlngpu (Love this name).

I read the description several times but I’ve not been able to determine how this mod will affect tools. I prefer using axes and pickaxes as my primary weapon and I’m wondering if the LBD works for tools as well. I currently use a different LBD mod, but I’m always looking for the next best thing. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Im still testing all the weapons/tools (There are just alot and this is why I needed to release.)
However, all tools/weapons use the same code/logic with a few exceptions like Steel Knuckles which can also harvest animals.
Guns/Weapons should all be functioning properly after my recent modlet patch 2.1.

In summary; You use tool/weapon, you gain incremental exp for it. Gain enough incremental exp and the skill levels up as if you had read a crafting magazine. (This is how 7d2d A16.4 was.)
This mod also has a spawning modlet with it that will make the game harder by spawning more zombies of higher tiers as well as giving zombies a stacking buff that augments all their stats.

You can simply delete the spawning modlet though if you dont wish to use it. LBD and Spawning are independant of eachother- just designed to work side by side with eachother.

Unlike other LBD modlets; I have learn by doing for deployable turrets, Vehicles, Armor, Food, Medical and even a LBD loot system thatll give looting bonus’, Traps and Electronics and more.
My modlet has pretty much every system I could think of that we use in game.

PS:
My LBD system DOES NOT replace the currently used, Learn By Book (LBB). Thus, you can use both systems or choose to use only 1. That way if you prefer LBD and your buddy likes LBB, you can each use your preference… Or both.

LBD works for tools and all weapons.

Tools are kinda multi-use as you mention.

Depends on the tool in question… Stone Axe has 4 categories it can increase depending on what you do with it.
Harvest, Harvest Animal, Repair, Damage Zombies.
All 4 categories are properly tracked and bonus’ skill levels applied once LBD EXP threshold is met.
Harvest Block = Harvest Tool Skill
Damage Zombie = Harvest Tool Skill
Harvest Animal = Food Skill
Repair Block = Repair skill.

Non-StoneAxe tools are harvest/zed.
The LBD modlet will give you LBD exp for both harvesting and dealing damage to a zombie.

My modlet tends to be much more feature-rich than most other LBD modlets. I genuinely strived for a replication of the A16.4 LBD system and added a looting system as well as electronics, traps and robotics.
If the crafting skill existed in the game, the LBD mod ties into it.

PS: Go into creative mode and search for “LBD” Eat the red rotten meat; “LBD Remover” get yourself another LBD sham can and eat that too.
Your save is preserved and the LBD mod is reset.
No need for a new save.

Hello everyone.

I have (hopefully) managed to update this correctly this time… Fingers crossed.

V2.1 of the modlet fixes NREs (Null Refrence Exceptions) and I now have a working fix if anymore pop up.

ALL systems are confirmed working now except AUTO-turrets. (Deployables remain working)
Workstations still isnt working as its pending a dev modding fix.
This includes a working looting system, deployable turrets giving exp and vehicles (Not bicycles) giving Vehicle exp.

I balanced some more spawning numbers and systems so that quests are now completable in a reasonable timeframe. (1/2 to 1 day in-game.) so long as you think outside the box a little.

Enjoy and good luck!

I also wanted to leave this comment:

-Deployable turret LBD Exp is a confirmed working feature.
-Autoturrets giving exp is a WiP hopeful feature.
-Driving exp worked in V1.3 but the devs are tweaking it and while working in 1.3, I havnt gotten it reworking in 1.4 as it seems they disconnected the variable from the modding engine.
-Workstations works, in theory but doesnt work in-game. Variable isnt hooked up to modding system. (Documented Dev issue)
-I changed armor so while you run and jump while wearing it, you gain armor skill.
-Explosive skill works now.
-Looting still needs playtesting to confirm.

Theoretically, itll work on anything V1.0 and later.
Reality; it was tested on V1.3 and V1.4.

The variables used for LBD should work in previous versions but were not tested.
Spawning is being worked on by the devs and only supports V1.4 as zombie naming conventions changed from 1.3 to 1.4. One could edit the modlet to make it work for previous versions though.

(Changelog tab has this info but is more hidden than I wouldve hoped.)
