TheMeanOnes Trader Randomizer

7 days to die themeanones trader randomizer

The TheMeanOnes Trader Randomizer mod enhances the quest system in 7 Days to Die by randomizing the trader interactions. Players will now have a more dynamic experience when progressing through trader quests, encountering new trader locations and different tiers of quests. This mod introduces an element of unpredictability, making each playthrough more engaging and varied.

Features

Randomized Trader Locations: Traders can now be found in various biomes, offering a more challenging and diverse exploration experience.

Tiered Trader Quests: New tiered quests (tier2_nexttrader to tier5_nexttrader) have been added, increasing difficulty and rewards as you advance through the tiers.

Improved NPC Interaction: The closest NPCs will be automatically selected for interaction, streamlining quest progression and ensuring you engage with the right trader.

How It Works: This mod modifies the quest progression for trader missions. Instead of always going to the same trader, players are given randomized objectives to visit traders in different biomes. The tiered system introduces increased challenge and reward for each new trader quest.

Compatibility

Works alongside most quest mods but may conflict with mods that alter the trader questline.

Important Additional Step for V1.0:

1.0 USERS READ THIS

Before generating a new map with TheMeanOnes Trader Randomizer V1.0, there’s an extra step required to ensure the mod functions correctly. You will need to manually update the Trader POI (Point of Interest) files, as this part of the mod cannot be adjusted via a standard XPath modification due to file location restrictions.

Manual POI Update Instructions

In the mod download, you’ll find an additional folder labeled TheMeanOneTraderRandomizer\Data\Prefabs\POIs.
This folder contains five .xml files—one for each trader.
You will need to manually copy these .xml files into your game directory at the following location:

Your Game Directory: Your install dir\7 Days To Die\Data\Prefabs\POIs

This step ensures that the traders spawn correctly with the necessary adjustments applied.

Why Is This Step Necessary?

The recent updates to the game’s spawning mechanics resulted in traders only considering others of the same type when determining how close they can spawn to one another. This works well in cases where there’s only one trader type per zone, but it causes issues when traders are set to spawn randomly. The only modification made to the trader files was the addition of a more “generic trader” tag, which allows for more flexibility in their spawn locations across the biomes.
