Early Game Survival

Day 1 Priorities

1. Gather Basic Resources – Wood, stone, plant fibers (yucca) – These work the same as vanilla

2. Complete Tutorial Challenges – Focus on finishing your first set of challenges – This unlocks access to class selection

3. Locate a Trader (Lee Gon) – Find Lee Gon (The Scavenger King) trader – Report completion of challenges to receive starter kit access – Traders accept Casino Coins as currency

4. Choose Your Class – Use your starter kit item after receiving it from Lee Gon – This begins your class quest chain – Start earning casino coins through class quests

5. Build Basic Shelter – Nights are EXTREMELY dark (9 PM – 5 AM complete darkness) – Asylum Night Brightness mod makes nights pitch black – Have light sources ready!

6. Avoid High-Tier Enemies – Horror icons (Freddy, Jason, Art the Clown) have 2000 HP – Midgame demons have massive health pools – Endgame demons have 50,000 HP each

Night Survival

The Eternal Night (9 PM – 5 AM):

  • Gradual darkness from 9 PM to midnight (complete darkness)
  • Stays pitch black until 5 AM

MAJOR CHANGES
★ HORROR ICON ENTITY EXPANSION ★

The nightmare just got a whole lot bigger! We’ve completed a massive expansion
to our horror icon entity families. Each horror icon now features a complete
progression of 7 entity variants:

• Normal
• Feral
• Radiated
• Charged
• Infernal
• Cursed
• Alpha

This update adds a staggering 84 NEW ENTITIES to the game, ensuring that your
encounters with these iconic terrors will scale appropriately throughout your
entire playthrough. From early-game scares to endgame nightmares, they’re ready
to hunt you at every stage.

★ DEMON COMBAT OVERHAUL ★
WARNING: INCREASED DIFFICULTY AHEAD

All demon entities have received a significant combat buff. Demons are now
completely IMMUNE to stun and knockdown effects. No more cheesing demon
encounters with crowd control – you’ll need to face them head-on with pure
firepower and tactical positioning. Brace yourselves, survivors. The demons
won’t be going down easy anymore.

Additionally, we’ve fixed the instant death mechanic that Uber Demons were
causing. They’re still incredibly dangerous, but now you’ll have a fighting
chance instead of being deleted from existence on contact.

★ LEGENDARY TOOL FIXES ★

Fixed critical issues with legendary tool tier progression and crafting. The
legendary tool crafting chain should now work as intended, allowing proper
progression through the tool tiers without roadblocks or missing recipes.

★ DAMAGE CALCULATION SYSTEM REWRITE ★
EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE – FEEDBACK REQUESTED

We’ve completely rewritten the damage calculation system from the ground up to
address two critical bugs:

• The “One-Shot Kill” bug where players would be instantly kill by projectiles
• The “Immortality” bug where certain players become unkillable

This is a fundamental change to how combat works in the mod. While our internal
testing has been positive, we’re marking this as EXPERIMENTAL and actively
requesting player feedback. Please report any unusual combat behavior, damage
inconsistencies, or balance issues you encounter. Your feedback is crucial to
ensuring this system works perfectly for everyone.

★ AUDIO IMPROVEMENTS ★

• Replaced main menu music and ambient sounds for a fresh experience
• Updated level-up sound effects with more satisfying audio feedback
• Fixed heat map signatures on weapons for proper stealth mechanics

Infernal Enhancement System A brand new enhancement system has been added, allowing you to upgrade your gear to infernal-tier power! Enhance your equipment all the way up to +10 and push your gear beyond its limits… if you dare.

NPC Removal (Temporary) We’re temporarily removing NPCs from the mod while we work on improvements. They’ll return in a future update better than ever!

BALANCE CHANGES

  • Cursed Variant Health Adjusted – Cursed zombies have received health rebalancing
  • Alpha Variant Health Adjusted – Alpha zombies have received health rebalancing
  • Zombie Damage Scaling Fixed – This is a BIG one! All zombies now have their own unique hand items, which means damage properly scales with tier. No more early-game zombies hitting like ferals!

  • Fixed: Death loop issue that was trapping players in an endless cycle
  • Fixed: Honey spawning from tree stumps (because that made total sense, right? )

Another possible issue: I’m also getting a message of:

ChunkManager generation blocked for 1.5s: max queued exceeded by 1 (Instance:43;Pooled:2;Max:40)

This is reference to the game dropping to 2FPS from otherwise running normally.

Got an issue here. When entering my home area, the FPS dropped to 2. Since everything was basically frozen for several minutes, I checked the console and saw this message:

[Discord][Log] RPC connect error -4058 (rpc_manager.cpp:39)
[Discord][Log] RPC manager reset: RPC failed to receive ready payload (rpc_manager:cpp:130)

This is the only warning or sign as to what is causing the lag spike. Before getting this, I had no issues and was progressing normally, with normal FPS. Any idea or explanation as to what this is, or how I can fix it? As it stands, I’m unable to play my game anymore.

Updated to 2.4.6 today. It’s working great on single player, but my dedicated server running in Docker is throwing an error repeatedly (below). I can connect to the server and everything appears to be working, there’s just a constant error being thrown.

Hi, when I was copy paste my folders on my FTP this icon name bug all my transferts because of th “ö” : IconSMALWMjolnirsEcho.png from the mod folder “AsylumLegendaryWeapons”. When I change it for a “o” I was able to copy/paste it.

Remove the lots of easy to get chests (14 hardened! + many others) from the Sky Tower. Beside the waste amount of loot you can get 18 skill points in 10 mins without beating a single zombie! They don‘t trigger if you fly onto the top or use ladders to reach it.

Reporting a bug: The Asylum UFO doesn’t allow me to access it’s storage or any other internal workings. I can’t put anything inside of it, add mods, or anything like that. If I use the radial menu, I’m able to fuel it, but that’s all.

Check the traders. They always seem to have some of it. Other than that, I think it mostly appears almost at random in the tougher biomes.

Asylum is great! If you can think of a horror movie villain, It’s probably running around somewhere. I don’t have problems running the mod at all. But it does require a high end computer, Due to all of the graphics additions. The fog can be removed except for the ground fog, Which is really cool anyway. Legendary weapons don’t get extra ammo mods because they already hold extra ammo. If your seeing smooth textures, It’s because the vanilla game decided your GPU can’t handle it. And smoothed it out. There is a mod to fix that too. Overall, Most of the negative comments are due to incorrect installations, Or computers that aren’t strong enough to handle the mod. But if you can run it, You’ll love it.

Is there a reason why no asylum weapons can have the increased ammo capacity mods attached? Every single one has them greyed out. Is this intentional, or just a bit of oversight due to the required appearance mods needed for the weapons? Is it coming in a future update? Because more boolets would be useful.

Recently started playing this mod, and so far I am extremely impressed, great job.

One suggestions, maybe add two columns to workstations, one showing all the workstations and another for upgrades for workstations.

Man i want to love this mod but just so many problems fog is impossible the toggle doesn’t work have to use console to just cut it out now after the update drop from 80fps to 5 just standing still, have crafting materials with no info on what they do, nights don’t change its pitch black all the time and if i try to change any settings at all the game freezes and crashes and if i try to open containers its a 50/50 whether the game crashes and since it takes awhile for the world to reload has just become more aggravating than its worth

2.4.5 version, for me the zombie birds and dogs are now not killable through direct damage. i was able to get them with bleed damage, but none of my attacks would do damage directly. but overall, love the mod, thanks for all your hard work.

I think there is a bug with new update where zombie dogs and vultures are there but cannot hurt you and cannot hurt them either.That was on ritual quests.

Ok so I and a few others have played this modpack for a while now and I have some feedback to give.
First off the concept and idea of this pack is really cool and it is very fun to play and has quite a few additions and stuff to unlock, build and do. Please keep working on it.
However, there is still lots of work to be done, for example:
-crafting items are often all over the place and have to be made in places that don’t make sense
-the amount of weapons per crafting tree varies heavily and the usefulness of melee weapons compared to ranged weapons is very limited.
-the scaling of skills invested and the ascension “learning” is way out of proportion to the game difficulty, at the moment I can straight up blast through a Tier IV Infestation with an Asylum M4 I found within 3 minutes, taking zero damage.
-talking about zero damage, if you reach over 100 armor rating with Tier 6 Asylum Armor sets, you literally take 0 damage. The only thing that can physically hurt you is critical injuries like sprains, lacerations and so on. The armor also desperately needs to be locked behind progression, like the armor crafting skill. It is way too easy to make for literal invincibility.
-the food crafting is very diverse and there is lots of interesting items and recipes, but it is just too cluttered. Especially when the ingredients are also scattered over 2-3 workbenches.
-what is the point of the Asylum advanced workbench? It does exactly the same as the regular one.
-the classes: while it is neat to have a class system and associated starter kits, the classes are nothing but a gimmick. They give no bonuses or differentiation in what you can or should do and the class quests are more of an annoyance than being helpful. For medic you have to get a bunch of hard to get candies that you have to be lucky and rich enough to buy in vending machines. The reward is just 1 medical crafting magazine and some XP. Not worth the time.
-Zombie variants desperately need specific sound effects and/or particles, and maybe even attacks and movements. At the current stage there often is just a bunch of weird looking zombies that often look frightening but behave, sound and die like all vanilla zombies.
-the pack could use some custom armor and weapon mods. You often find your slots unused because many weapons can’t use a lot of the mods, for example any machine gun can not take magazine extensions. Armor mods are just way too few in general to fill the armor slots.

Lastly, PLEASE make mod updates separate download files that do not require the whole 9GB download all over again every one or two weeks, not everyone has NASA Internet speed.

For the love of GOD removed the demons that have rocket punches there shit ass design no one wants to fight a 50k hp mob that if it hits you 1 time you rag doll and it just keeps you in rag doll tell you die with 0 counterplay or ways to avoid it besides running away. you cant build a horde base cuz these shit mobs just punch the wall outside and everyone in the bas either insta dies or almost dies and then bleeds out I had every hp and defensive perk possible over level 350 and it still killed me in 3 hits through a 8 layer wall like come on how can you even think that’s good in any way.

I’m running into a persistent issue with The Asylum Overhaul where players get stuck forever on the “Downloading Asylum Records” screen when joining multiplayer servers. This affects multiple people, a quick search confirms it’s widespread.

The initial fix suggested deleting mods, but that’s impossible for an overhaul that requires 55+ mod folders. I followed your updated fix, and while my game loaded fine at first (my friend’s didn’t), applying it broke mine too, now we’re both looped.

This proves it’s an overhaul side problem, especially post update. I’ve been banned from Discord for raising it, which kills support channels.

Please drop a real patch or clean install guide beyond “delete everything.” Clean reinstall per your notes (delete all Mods folder, redownload, set Steam beta to None) helped some, but MP joining still shits the bed for many.

Act like pros and fix it, don’t ban feedback.

Same Issue. Have had other player join my game multiple times before with vanilla and with complete overhaul mod. Have done restarts, have made sure Beta’s set to none, verified files on both machines. Both of us can start the game and play single player with no issues.

Hey so we downloaded Asylum on our custom map and were wanting to remove the fog, so as the modinfo states we set no fog to 0, but we do not know where that is at currently. We tried using console command weather fog 0 and after it resets it to 0, it automatically comes back in. Could you please let me know how to fix this?

Getting a bug where a certain female zombie is invisible and causes the game to slowly lock up, unable to change items/use items, just hitting me hard. gone into god mode and tried to aoe with grenades/moly’s and after 1-2 uses you can’t do anything anymore. have to rejoin the server (multiplayer) and she (audio ques indicate a female zombie) resets to her position and I just avoid her. happened 4+ times now in different POI’s. reproducible if needed i can record/stream.

Seems to be a bug where having a hired NPC rapidly respawns over the gyro mid-flight, causing damage over time.

Can not seem to join multiplayer anymore, forever stuck on Asylum Records after switching to newest download…. Also, even after a uninstall and reinstall I am stuck on 2.4 (B7) and can not seem to get 2.4.4….

That’s not a fix. I’ve tried that as mine was working fine and I had to add the fix for myself in order to play with a friend. We’re both stuck at downloading asylum records. The authors solution was to ban anyone getting support for this so it doesn’t raise an issue as to why he/she can’t fix it.

Hi guys, How can I see what benefits of my class are? I know I choose a class and didn’t play for a week and now trying to remember what weapon should I use but cant bring something like a overview of my class! I know I can see it in above description but is there a way to see it in game?

Check the quest log to see which class quest you have active. Otherwise, just ignore it and play however you want, the class has absolutely zero effect on actual gameplay.

Hi, I need to know if there’s a way to prevent the items inside storage containers from being shared with the other players in my game. Sometimes someone ends up crafting things using materials that aren’t theirs.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

That same issue exists with pretty much any mod out there that takes items from containers to craft. No way around this other than placing your personal box way out of reach, you would have to test that.

mod wont download to my gportal server so i can have it there to play with friends!!! stops at file 125 out of like 5275 files!!!

It’s caused by rainstorm mod, on one of their dll file it’s returning permission denied from the ftp server, so i’m not using it. And i think there was another one but you can add it manually from the web ftp on g-portal but i think it was just caused by my ftp client. It was in AsylumLegendaryWeapons\UIAtlases\ItemIconAtlas\IconSMALWMjölnirsEcho.png

Love the mod but is there anything that can be done to help the desert driving? Every cactus turns into a stump and so I am constantly using repair kits to keep my vehicles going. I would stay on the roads but it’s hard to see and there are so many things in the desert biome that can destroy a vehicle. The stump thing is a real pain
