Fire V 2.5

fire mod

Description

Adds fire to Molotov’s and Flaming Arrows / Bolts that can burn down entire wooden structures. USE WITH CAUTION! Supports 7DTD 2.4+ from testing.

Fire Mod – Dynamic Fire System

Introduction

This mod adds a dynamic fire system to the game. Many blocks are now flammable/burnable, including cars, crops, grass, trees, hay bales, wood, stoves, and more. Molotovs, flaming arrows, and flaming bolts can ignite blocks properly. You (and other entities) can also be set on fire from fires you create—so be careful.

Strongly recommended: back up your save before using this mod. You can absolutely burn down your base.

Fire behavior / spread

Trees can turn into burnt trees after burning.
Grass and crops have a small chance to spread fire, so you may see small wildfire-like spread, but it should not travel very far under normal settings.

Certain explosive blocks can be ignited and may spread fire when they explode:
Gas Barrels
Gas Tanks
Cars
Stoves / Ovens (Rarely)

Anti-fire items

Fire Fighter 5000
A grenade that extinguishes fires in a 7×7 area on impact. The explosion visuals are cosmetic only (no damage to you, blocks, or entities).
Fire Prevention System
A Land Claim Block upgrade that prevents fire within the claim radius.

Zombies

Infernal zombies can ignite blocks with melee hits (12% chance). This makes late-game wooden bases risky—especially during blood moons.

Commands/configurationFireperformancemode
Firenormalmode

These commands switch between two behavior presets in fire_settings.txt. You can also manually tune settings (spread, effects, deletion behavior, etc.) inside that file. If the file is missing, the mod will regenerate it.

Notes / known limitationsDirt blocks currently do not convert into burnt soil near flaming blocks (couldn’t get it stable).
Smoke particles were removed due to performance and visual issues (smoke appearing without fire, heavy particle load).
I tested on v2.4 and it loaded without errors on v2.5 experimental (from my testing).

Just to be clear this mod is not the original fire mod by guppy. Just inspired by it. I had smoke at one point but wanted to focus on performance and core features first. I might make it at some point, but this mod will not be what guppys fire mod is. Ours are different in their own ways. There’s not very many baseline smoke effects are extremely small, and you need a ton of them for it to look good and authentic. Thank you for trying it!😄

ok i see the “grenade” extinguisher, maybe a standard one like in the old mod and there is smoke effects in the vanilla game can that be altered? Guppy’s mod had smoke, and it worked up to 1.4 just a suggestion. without smoke i won’t use it, kind of kills what immersion you are trying to gain in the realistic aspect of having fire ability to burn world objects. it does look cool but…
