Survivor’s Katana is back!
Russiandood like to use Melee weapons. Preferably the bladed ones, like the Machete. He was slightly bummed out that TFP didn’t add any other melee weapons for late game. This Mod adds 2 blades, the Tanto, which is the Japanese knife, and the Survivor’s Katana.
Katana is a custom made model after he learned to Model using Blender. May not be used without permissions. Tanto Knife is a free asset from Unity store and is free to use.
Here Is What He Changed in the Game
- Added the Tanto and Survivor’s Katana.
- Katana has a base dismemberment of 10%
- Added in a quest chain to reward player with a total of 20 Knife Guy Magazines to level up Blade Crafting and 5 skill points
- The quest chain “Way of the Blade” is started after you complete the Basic Survival quest chain.
- NOTE: If you added this mod on a saved game, you can craft the Quest, Way of the Blade, with 1 paper. Once you the quest chain, you cannot start it again.
- Tanto is unlocked at level Blade Crafting 25
- Survivor’s Katana is unlocked at Blade Crafting 64

- Kill 5 things with it
- Obtain a Hunting Knife
- Kill 10 things with it
- Obtain a Tanto
- Kill 20 things with it
- Obtain a Machete
- Kill 30 things with it
- Obtain a Survivor’s Katana
- Kill 50 zombies with it

Does this mod affect the loot finding rate of Knife Guy magazines? Because towards the late game almost every lootable container I interact with has one or two magazines in it…
It works for me on the latest version of the game but sadly it is not enough to make blades as good as other melee weapons endgame in the current game version. The katana has slightly higher DPS when compared to max level/tier versions of the other weapons but unlike almost all the other melee weapons the katana will NOT refill stamina when you kill with a power attack. There is the fact that the Katana has a higher chance to decapitate/kill mobs but the spear has better reach+pierce and the blunt melee weapons have ragdoll/stun abilities. Sadly, after factoring everything in this mod simply does not do enough to make knives worth using over the other melee weapons. The only way I can think of to fix this so it is more balanced compared to the other melee weapons for late-game horde nights on a pure melee build would be to add a book, mod, or something similar for bladed weapons that will give players stamina if they kill with a power attack. I hope the op cares enough to fix the balance issue but till then I felt it necessary to warn others who are downloading this mod before they end up stuck needing a respec potion.
Not working on new save:
completed all basics quests, after trader nothing new shows up.
Crafted way of blade note to test and get : cannot accept this quest at this time message
