The TechFreqs Proximity Blade & Dart Trap Detector V1.3, is a mod for 7 Days to Die that helps players monitor powered blade traps (Block Type 18865) and dart traps (Block Type 18863) in their vicinity. When activated, it scans for traps with a valid power state, logs their details, and displays on-screen labels with real-time information. Perfect for managing defenses without the clutter of unpowered traps or terrain.
Key Features:
Detection: Scans for powered blade and dart traps within a 15-meter radius (configurable) every 30 seconds.
Status Tracking: Identifies traps as On or Off based on their power state, showing health when powered and within 5 meters.
On-Screen Labels: Displays trap type, distance, and status (e.g., “Blade Trap: 9.6m [On, H:2000]” or “Dart Trap: 3.7m [Off]”). Updates every 0.1 seconds.
Clean Output: Silently skips unpowered traps and terrain, focusing only on functional traps with a TileEntityPowered connection.
Toggleable: Activate or deactivate with a configurable key (default: Keypad7).
Configurable: Adjust detection radius, close-range radius, and toggle key via config.json.
Configuration:
The mod generates a config.json file in its folder on first run with default settings:
{
“ToggleKey”: “Keypad7”,
“DetectionRadius”: 15.0,
“CloseRangeRadius”: 5.0
}
ToggleKey: Key to enable/disable the detector (e.g., “Keypad7”, “F1”). Must match Unity’s KeyCode enum.
DetectionRadius: Distance in meters to scan for traps (minimum 5.0).
CloseRangeRadius: Distance in meters to show health for powered traps (minimum 1.0).
Usage
Toggle: Press the configured key (default: Keypad7) to enable/disable. A tooltip confirms the state (“Enabled!” or “Disabled!”).
Detection: When enabled, the mod scans every 30 seconds and logs detected traps to the console (e.g., “Detected Blade Trap at X: 377.0, Y: 35.0, Z: 526.0 [On, H:2000]”).
Labels: On-screen labels appear for detected traps, updating in real-time as you move or traps change state.
