Is it possible to create one for the max level as well? I cannot seem to use the old mods
Someone who reaches the maximum level should not need any points. So I don’t understand what you mean exactly? What do you want me to do for the maximum level?
You’ve provided so many options that we don’t even bother editing the xml. Thanks man.
Yo, im installing the 3 per levelon A20.7 and it aint working. i click downlod, open file, then pull up %AppData% and drag the 3 skillpoints file into mods. It wouldnt conflict with the compopack or Morelootbags right?
Hi. If any of the mods you mentioned do not change the skill points, they will not conflict. Repeat the installation using the main traditional method that has been used for years without using appdata.
In case anyone’s wondering, I tried it with the Sorcery mod and it works with it
Does this mod work with Darkness Falls mod installed? Not sure if Darkness Falls affects skill point gain per level or not.
It probably won’t work. Overhaul mods make extensive changes. Using different mods with them can always cause problems. But you are free to make a backup of your save and try it.
A21ダークネスフォールズMODでは使用できませんでした
Overhaul mods change many things, and if you use this mod with mods that change skill points, this mod will not work.
ダークネスフォールズa21では使用できませんでした
Is this server side or not I did not see anyone ask that. Sorry if this question bothered you or if it’s an obvious answer I should have seen I just got the game and was curious
Server side only. Clients do not need to install it.
A lot of people seem to have success with this, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. Could it be conflicting with a mod I already have? I have several other mods installed already. But they are quality of life mods that shouldn’t have anything to do with skill points.
Some modders don’t make it clear what they’re changing. It’s probably a conflict with a mod you’re using.
was great when i get to spend 1 points per skill then came the moment where 2 point/skill is needed. thanks
Im running A20.6(b9) using the 15 point skills, it doesn’t seem to be working. Does this mod conflict with other zombie mods?
If another mod you use changes skill points, yes, it will conflict and not work.
I noticed using the Grandpa’s Fergit’n Elixir will reset the characters skill points to the default value instead of what this mod adds, any idea on how to get it to reset to the mods values?
Just like vanilla. Drink Grandpa’s Fergit’n Elixir. All skill points will be reset.
Could you please add a 2 skill per level option? I would really prefer that to any other.
AaronG85 has such a mod. I think he will make it fully compatible with the A21 version soon. But I did it for you. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/655wzdi7hwyl5uq/2%20Skill%20Points%20Per%20Level.zip?dl=1
Thank you so much. I love you modders. You Keep games going! Never listen to any haters, you are the people that actually keep the games fresh.
You’re welcome. I thank you for your kind words. Enjoy.
One thing I’ve been looking for a long while is a mod that gives you a boost in points per level from the start and then reduces it as you get higher in level. I worked out a table and even a formula for the calculation, but don’t know how to mod at all. The idea is based on a Skyrim mod that lets you edit a config file like this:
Current level:points at level up
1:3
10:2
40:1
So starting at level 1 you would get 3 points per level, then from 10 onward you would get 2 per level, then from 40 you’d get 1 point per level.
Nice idea. But unfortunately I don’t know how to do it.
Excellent Idea. Using your Idea on my new game. 5 per till level 5, 3 till 15, 2 per after that. Really a great idea. I played a recent game on nomad and the day 28 horde destroyed 2 of my bases. Almost all irradiated and even demolishers, on day 28 Nomad setting… With the new magazine crafting I only had pipe guns and baseball bats… This helps balance some of that.
….mmm… in Alpha 20 it worked, but A21 (by me, single player) doesn’t work. 🙁
I recommend carefully repeating the installation. You may have made a mistake in the installation.
it’s probably easier to go into progression.xml, on the top of the file change the perk points per level that to install then put it in mods
A big NO. You can’t just move xml files into the Mods folder. It will not work. Also do not edit the main files of the game. Click download and install the mod (If you don’t have the version you want, edit the mod file for yourself). That’s the easy one.
What would happen if all the folders were in the game files?
They must conflict. Naturally it will not work.
I have installed the mod, and I don’t really know how exactly to activate it, I had them all in one file under mods, it didn’t work, so i deleted all but 1 of them from that file, so there was only the one under ‘mods’ because I figured I had them all activated and it was messing with the file, but it still wont work.
You just need to put the version you want to use in “Mods” folder. For example, if you want to use “10 Skill Points Per Level”, you just have to put it in “Mods” folder, not all of them. It should be like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\Mods\10 Skill Points Per Level
I have a server through 7d2d net. I have uploaded this mod like many others and this one does not seem to take effect. Do you know how I could solve this?
Sorry for the late reply. I have no experience with Nitrado. However, when you install it properly as I mentioned above, it should work. If it still doesn’t work, there may be a related problem with your server.
how do i get it to work on a nitrado server?
You only need to install the mod on the server files. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die Dedicated Server\Mods\10 Skill Points Per Level
When applying points in Alpha 19.5 I sometimes get a NullReferenceException. See https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/24625-constant-character-reset-issues/
Sorry for the late reply. I don’t think a simple skill point mod would cause such an error. The problem may be related to the other mod(s) you are using.
Where exactly do I put the mod? There isn’t a mod folder. (And if I have to create a mod folder, where to I put it?)
make a folder called Mod in the 7 Days to Die folder in: Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\
Sorry for the noob question => If I have this mod, but a friend of mine does not have it and I joined his server, will this take effect?
I’ve never tried anything like this before. It could probably work for you. But it is best to install the mod on the server.
Is this server side or client?
This mod is server friendly. You can use it directly on your server.
Works fine…maybe i use it on my public server :)))
